Bio

Professor Ed Bryant did his undergraduate studies in drama (acting option) at Carnegie-Mellon University, and vocal performance at Gordon College. He earned his M.M. in Vocal Performance with a concentration in opera from the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts.

As a member of the New England/Boston Conservatory opera department, Bryant performed several lead tenor roles such as Tamino in Mozart鈥檚 Die Zauberfl枚te, Fenton in Verdi鈥檚 Falstaff, Gonzalve in Ravel鈥檚 L鈥橦eure Espagnole, among others, under the baton of internationally renowned director and vocal coach John Moriarty. While in school in Boston, Bryant was also the Tenor Section leader and soloist at historic Park Street Church on the Boston Common.

Of his role as Tamino in Die Zauberfl枚te, the Boston Globe said, 鈥淓dward Bryant has a honeyed, pliant and expressive tenor voice鈥︹

Professor Bryant has performed summerstock with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, soloed with the Mantovani Orchestra, apprenticed with Orlando Opera, was a resident artist for several years with the Central Florida Lyric Opera company, and was a member of the Walt Disney World Voices of Liberty.

Prior to coming to 熟女人妻, Bryant taught voice as an adjunct instructor at Gordon College, Brevard Community College, Seminole Community College, and Valencia Community College. Since being employed at 熟女人妻 in the fall of 2000, Bryant has directed several full opera productions such as Mozart鈥檚 Le Nozze di Figaro, Aaron Copland鈥檚 The Tender Land, Johann Strauss II鈥檚 Die Fledermaus, Gilbert and Sullivan鈥檚 The Mikado, and several others. Bryant annually directs the Musical Theatre Revue, and the A Night at the Opera鈥cenes performances. He is the Director of Vocal Studies here at Southeastern and teaches voice lessons, Vocal Pedagogy, Diction for Singers, and Aural Theory.

He is currently a member of the Tampa Bay chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), and the Polk Arts Alliance.
